Reflect: Argument, Rhetorical Appeals, and Fallacies

Evaluation Title: Reflection on Argument, Rhetorical Appeals, and Fallacies
This unit covers the use of rhetorical appeals, known as ethos, logos, and pathos, to make a convincing argument. Logical fallacies are also identified. In this assignment, you will reflect on your own past experience with the rhetorical appeals of ethos, logos, and pathos, as well as logical fallacies.
In a series of short-answer responses:
Describe a time the rhetorical appeals were used on you or that you used the appeals. If you can't think of an example that has already happened, think of something you want to discuss with someone in the future and describe how you will use the rhetorical appeals.
Include how logos was established by having a clear claim supported by reasons and evidence.
Discuss how ethos was established by creating credibility for the speaker and the argument.
Describe the emotional appeal (pathos) that was used to make a connection between the listener and the argument.
If fallacies were used by you or the other party in the discussion, identify which fallacies were used.
Discuss the outcome of the discussion. How did rhetorical appeals and fallacies impact the outcome?
Estimated time to complete: 1 hour
